Step 1: Get a CSV List of Testimonials
There are a few ways to easily export comments from places like Google and Facebook. We use exportcomments.com because they make it quick and it’s free!
The free version of this service will export a maximum of 100 comments. Beyond that, you have to upgrade the service. In our example, we used the reviews from Audible on Google Play…guess how many reviews they had!?
1.4 million reviews (1,433,435 to be exact)…just in case anyone was wondering.
I was able to get 100 of the most recent reviews exported from Audible on Google Play using the steps below:
How to Get a List of Testimonies from Facebook & Google
If you’re looking to get a list of customer testimonials from Facebook and Google, there are a few different websites for this.
First head to exportcomments.com. Enter in the URL of your Facebook page or your Google Business Page.
Click the export button and select CSV for the export. For the free version, only export 100 comments (any more than that and they require payment).
And that’s it friends! You’ve got your CSV list. Now let’s prep that list.
Prep Your CSV List of Testimonials
Once you have your CSV files you’ll need to make some edits before using it in Canva.
Have a look at your list of reviews and testimonials. Hopefully, you have some wonderful customers leaving reviews that light up your day and make your hard work worthwhile!
But – oh, oh. There is a bad review. It happens to the best of businesses! Don’t get too bent out of shape over the odd bad review.
(That being said if you have more bad reviews than good, you may want to revisit your business model!)
Now, simply delete the rows with bad reviews or reviews that you don’t want to include.
Here is a list of edits to make to your files before using it in Canva Bulk Create:
- clean up the file to only include the columns you need. For our example, we only include the review/testimonial and delete all of the other columns for the privacy of the reviewers. You could choose to keep the name columns as well as their comment.
- remove the bad reviews or reviews that have the language you don’t wish to include
- you may want to remove reviews that are too long as a large amount of text may extend past your design.
What If You Don’t Have Reviews Online?
If you’re just starting and don’t have reviews on Facebook or Google, there are other ways!
You can ask your clients individually for reviews. If you have their emails you could send a Google Form to collect reviews and feedback. Once they respond, your form can populate a Google Sheet that can be exported as a CSV.
Step 2: Open a Canva Account
Canva is a drag-and-drop design program that makes it easy to create beautiful designs for beginners and experts! If you don’t have Canva yet, you’ll need to start an account.
Canva’s Bulk Create feature is included in their Canva Pro which you can get for free for a trial period.
Step 3: Create a Testimonial Graphic
Creating a design doesn’t have to be complicated. The easiest way to get started is to choose a template from their collection. They have soooo many options, it can be hard to choose your favourite.
You can choose a template for social media posts (1:1 ratio), stories and even custom dimensions if you have a specific use in mind.
Once you find a template you like, you can adjust the colours to match your brand and even add your logo if you wish!
You’ll want to make sure the text box is large enough to fit your testimonials. And that the font isn’t too large (takes over the whole design) or too small (so that it can’t be read!).
Oh, and you’ll want to delete any sample text in the template! So if you don’t want names or anything else, now is the time to delete it.
Once you are happy with your template, move on to the next step!
Step 4: Use Bulk Create in Canva
Now for the magic to happen!
- Go to “apps” in the Canva menu.
- Select “Bulk create”
- Select “Upload CSV” (you could use “Enter Data Manually” if you only have a few reviews).
- Connect your data by right-clicking on the text box you wish to have the testimonial placed – select “Connect Data”. You’ll need to repeat this process if you have other information included such as customer names.
- Click Continue and review the list of testimonials that it will generate (it’s easier to review these in the CSV list like we did in the first step).
- Click “Generate” and watch the magic happen!

Step 5: Review the Testimonial Graphics
Your next step is to have a look at what was created to make sure everything looks ok. Sometimes strange symbols appear or your text is cut off. Make any adjustments.
Step 6: Export and Schedule
Export your graphics in the format you wish and start scheduling your posts to social media!
